North Hastings and the Bancroft tourism region is a splendid four season recreational playground. As the name implies, North Hastings is the northern section of Hastings County, spanning approximately 3,643.51 square kilometres and including the Town of Bancroft and the Townships of Carlow Mayo, Faraday, Hastings Highlands, Limerick, Tudor & Cashel, Wollaston and South Algonquin in Nipissing County. Bancroft, the centre of note, is the rockhound Mineral Capital of Canada boasting more than 1,600 species of minerals in more than 10,000 identified deposits. The Rockhound Gemboree civic holiday weekend annually attracts thousands of rock hounds and geologists.
